Earth Day 2022 Thoughts

Earth Day 2022 Thoughts

This Earth Day, and every day we all need to do our part to protect this amazing planet we all call home.

We are very proud to be a member of 1% for the planet. Luckily, individuals can also donate to this amazing philanthropic company.

On our most recent trip to Bali, we walked the beach near Canggu only to find that this beautiful oasis was covered in plastic debris washed up from the ocean. A research team from the Medical University of Vienna reported that on average, we are eating 5 grams of plastic particles per week. This is roughly equivalent to the weight of a credit card. Not only are plastics extremely harmful to our planet, but they're now ending up in our bodies and affecting our health.
We have pledged from the beginning never to use fully synthetic fabrics (ie: polyester, acrylic, and nylon) which are essentially plastic. It is vital to the health of our planet as well as our bodies to greatly reduce the amount of plastic produced and utilized.

Here are a few swaps anyone can make to reduce the use of plastic.
  • Prioritize buying clothing made from natural or plant-based fibers that are biodegradable (cotton, linen, hemp, rayon)
  • Replace single-use plastic and everyday items with reusable non-plastic items (bottles, straws, bags, utensils, food storage)
  • Swap your plastic bottle of shower gel and plastic loofah for a bar of soap and a natural loofah grown from a gourd.

Lastly, if you are at the beach and see plastic in the water or sand, you can do your part and recycle it.
