We are excited and honored to announce the launch of our new genuine leather and suede belts. These ethically handcrafted belts have been designed by our founder Lauren in collaboration with Seminyak Leather, a husband, and wife-owned small manufacturer in Bali that utilizes and celebrates the impeccable skills of local artisans.
During her last trip to Bali, Lauren met Ibu Eka and her husband David at their shop in Seminyak. After seeing their impeccable craftsmanship, passion for their craft and community, and sharing their same values for creating fair trade artisan-made pieces she knew in her heart they would be perfect to partner with in creating our belts. Their dedication to their craft involves not only a passionate respect for traditional Indonesian leather working techniques but also a commitment to creating goods that support a modern lifestyle.
Their process of manufacturing and production empowers Bali's artisan communities not only through a fair remuneration system but also through a safe and ethical working environment. All artisans are provided with fair wages and ethical working conditions. To reduce environmental impact, they also work alongside local patchwork artist Dina Adelya to up-cycle their leather waste- breathing new life into materials so often discarded.
After spending time with Eka, and learning about the different processes and materials, she got to work designing the four belt styles. We strongly believe that the talent of these local artisans must not be exploited,but instead carefully preserved, celebrated, and shared with the world.Each belt from our new collection reflects the honoring and preservation of Indonesian artisan skills- a true labor of love.
